Africa joins the group chat on fashion SUSTAINABILITY
The signs are evident, Africa has officially entered the group chat.
African fashion has fully embraced the sustainability conversation, with MAXHOSA Africa, one of South Africa's major fashion exports, at the forefront. It’s more than just lip service, African fashion has fully embraced the sustainability conversation, with Maxhosa Africa, one of South Africa's major fashion exports, is at the forefront leading the charge.
We had the pleasure of attending the Maxhosa Africa Sustainability Fashion Festival, held on Earth Day (April 22nd) at the picturesque Nirox Sculpture Park; which provided the perfect setting for a sustainability conversation.
Through innovative approaches, African fashion designers are reducing waste and promoting environmentally friendly practices, with some utilising traditional techniques like hand-weaving and natural dyeing to create stunning, culturally-rich garments. By embracing sustainability.
The Brand Conversationalists were fortunate to attend a first-of-its kind Sustainability festival where we witnessed the unveiling of MAXHOSA's AW23 collection. The festival also included a curated display of MAXHOSA's sustainable practices, highlighting their use of raw materials, processing, design, manufacturing, and other eco-friendly methods that contribute to the creation of their designer products.
African fashion is not only benefitting the environment but also fostering a more ethical and socially responsible industry.
Until next time, stay curious and pursue your passions.
